Julie van der Vate

Group President of Finance & Accounting, CFO and Treasurer

Julie van der Vate joined the Van Metre Companies in 1996. Julie is a licensed Certified Public Accountant in the state of Virginia and earned her Bachelor of Science degree in Accounting from George Mason University. She is responsible for all financing, liquidity, financial reporting, income taxes, human resources and risk management. Prior to joining Van Metre, Julie worked in public accounting specializing in real estate taxation. Julie is the President of the Van Metre Companies Foundation and is on the Board of Van Metre’s Women’s Leadership group.

Brian Davidson

Group President

After graduating with a Bachelor’s of Science degree from George Mason University in 1989, Brian Davidson started working with Van Metre Homes as an entry level accountant and prides himself in the extensive experience he has gained spending his entire career with The Van Metre Companies. Brian has over 28 years' experience in the Washington DC housing market. Brian is a member of various homebuilder associations in Virginia, and is a Life Director for HomeAid Virginia and current NVBIA President.

Kevin Rabil

Executive Vice President

Kevin Rabil joined Van Metre in 2012, and oversees the New Homes team. Prior to joining Van Metre, Kevin worked as a CPA for Ernst & Young where he audited financial statements for both private and public companies. Kevin is a graduate of the University of Notre Dame, where he received his Masters in Accounting.

Roy Barnett

Group President

Roy Barnett provides 38 years of experience in all aspects of real estate acquisition, development, and construction. In the 21 years Roy Barnett has been with Van Metre, he has been involved with the master planning of the mixed use planned communities of Broadlands, Stone Ridge and Lansdowne. Roy is a licensed general contractor in Virginia and holds professional surveyor and/or engineering design licenses in four states. Roy was previously an adjunct instructor in surveying and suburban development at Northern Virginia Community College and has presented various seminars in storm water hydrology/hydraulics related to land planning and design.

Walt Sheehan

Group President

Walt Sheehan joined the Van Metre Companies in 2005, and oversees the Van Metre apartment portfolio which is located in Northern Virginia, Washington DC, and Orlando, FL. Walt brings over 38 years of experience to the Van Metre Companies. Prior to joining the Van Metre Companies, Walt was a Group Vice President for the Charles E. Smith Companies. In this capacity, he oversaw the Smith apartment portfolio in Washington, DC, Arlington, VA, Miami, FL, and New York City. Walt holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Business Administration with a double major in Management and Marketing from Georgetown University. He is a Property Management Association member, National Multifamily Housing Committee Member, as well as a member of the Institute of Property Management holding a CPM designation.

Michael Barrett

Executive Vice President

Mike Barrett joined the Van Metre Companies in 2004 and oversees the Van Metre apartment portfolio which is located in Northern Virginia, Maryland, Washington D.C and Orlando, Florida. Mike brings 19 years of multifamily experience to Van Metre. Prior to joining Van Metre, Mike worked for Charles E. Smith, a division of Archstone-Smith as Director of Financial Reporting and Asset Management where he managed the Financial Analysis, Capital Improvements, Collections and D.C. Rent Control departments. Mike is a member of Property Management Association and National Multifamily Housing Council.

Juan Estrada

Vice President and General Counsel

Juan Estrada joined the Van Metre Companies in 2005, and oversees the Legal Department. Prior to joining the Van Metre Companies, Juan worked for the Covington & Burling LLP firm where he practiced commercial real estate and corporate law. Juan is a graduate of Washington University in St. Louis, and holds a law degree from George Washington University. He is a member of various legal associations in the Washington metropolitan area, and serves as Vice Chairman of the Board of non-profit CentroNía.

Dave Pancake

Executive Vice President

Dave joined Van Metre in 2005 managing the installation and development plan for the company’s new manufacturing facilities, Mill Branch Industries in Capon Bridge WV and later became Director of Land Development managing budgeting and contract administration for Van Metre Homes. In 2013 Dave rejoined the company’s manufacturing and supply division now Total Structural Solutions, as Vice President of Operations and has served as Executive Vice President since 2014. Dave graduated from West Virginia University in 1984 with a BS in Civil Engineering, in addition to owning a private home building company his professional career includes design engineering and project management, Executive Director Community Planning and Economic Development and Vice President of Commercial Lending. Dave has served as the President of the West Virginia Planning Association, Vice President of the West Virginia Economic Development Council and currently serves on the board of Top of Virginia Building Association.
